I'm an 18 year old Artist from Los Altos, California, currently studying architecture at the University of Oregon. Drawing has been my hobby for as long as I can remember. I limited myself to pen and pencil for years, but eventually my drawings started to feel repetitive. I needed more room for experimentation. For a long time, all the colored pencils I was gifted collected dust in my closet. In July of this summer, I decided to give them a try. I instantly fell in love with the boldness and structure the colors gave to my work. They brought out energy and form that I couldn't express with only a pen or pencil. That first colored pencil drawing changed my whole perception of art. I stopped thinking so much about the subject itself and started focusing on composition. I wanted to finally understand how different elements like light and structure interact. As I kept exploring the relationship between light and shadow, I began thinking more and more about architecture. I want to graduate to a 3D space, to not be bound to the limits of a sheet of paper or canvas.
